The DTA-1100 traction motor (TED) was created specifically for the 2ES5S and 3ES5S. At the end of 2019, it received an EAEU certificate of conformity, allowing its operation on the railway network of the Customs Union countries. Compared to the previous generation of TEDs, the asynchronous drive allows for a significant increase in reliability, while reducing the labour intensity of its maintenance and repair, and, accordingly, increasing the technical readiness of the locomotive.The use of asynchronous TEDs allows for improved realisation of traction force by regulating each of the locomotive's axes.
