Theatre curtain is an element of stage dressing that separates the stage from the auditorium and is located closest to the audience, on the border of the stage mirror. As a rule, the curtain opens at the beginning of the performance, and closes at intermission and at the end of the performance. The typology of theatre curtains is based on their appearance, texture, character of movement, and method of opening the stage. In historical and opera theatres, the main curtain is often decorated with an embroidered or drawn emblem of the theatre or the coat of arms of the city.
