Tempered glass is 5-7 times stronger than ordinary glass, when broken, it forms many small fragments with blunt edges, which is much less dangerous than long and strong fragments with sharp wedge-shaped edges, formed when breaking ordinary glass.

1 While 100 per cent of conventional float glass is destroyed by a temperature difference of 70°C, tempered glass can perfectly withstand a difference of 160°C between the edge and the middle of the glass.
