BMBs are designed to reduce the risk of contamination of the operator when working with airborne pathogenic agents and microorganisms, to protect the environment, and to protect the product from external contamination or cross-contamination. The PMB is a ventilated chamber with a working opening through which the operator can perform manipulations inside the box. The PMB is designed in such a way that the operator is protected, the risk of product contamination and cross-contamination is low, and the removal of emerging contaminants is ensured by a filtered airflow circulating within the box and by filtering the air removed from the box. The method of providing protection is to create a unidirectional downward laminar airflow inside the box and an air curtain in the working aperture.
