The fibre lasers used have undeniable advantages over other types of lasers. Firstly, they are maintenance free, the laser is in a closed and sealed housing which eliminates contaminants. There is also no need for consumables or highly paid maintenance staff. Secondly, fibre lasers are the most reliable of all available types and have such a long operating life that it cannot be exhausted within a decade. Thirdly, the output radiation of a fibre laser is of very high quality and stable beam parameters.
