A sterile implantable artificial hip replacement for a hip joint damaged by disease (e.g., arthritis) or trauma, consisting of corresponding femoral and acetabular components with a metal-to-polyethylene (or cross-linked polyethylene) articular friction pair. Implantation can be performed without the use of bone cement.
