The 2ES7 freight electric locomotive is based on the 2ES10 DC freight electric locomotive in order to expand the basic platform.
It is capable of driving a train weighing 9000 tonnes on sections with flat track profile (up to 6 0/00) and a train weighing 6300 tonnes on sections with mountain profile (up to 10 0/00).
-Integrated asynchronous traction drive Siemens AG based on traction converters with IGBT transistor modules
-Asynchronous traction motors with axial torque control allows to realise high traction force
-LOCK safety system
-Microprocessor-based control system MPSU&D includes functions of auto-driving, diagnostics, data transmission via technological radio communication channels, parameter registration, GPS/GLONASS positioning.
