A sterile implantable artificial substitute for the femoral head damaged by injury or disease with a metallic outer surface. It attaches to the stem/rod axis or femoral head/stem adapter and articulates with the acetabular endoprosthesis as a component of a total hip replacement or with the bipolar component of a partial hip replacement.
