The instrument is a specialised photometer providing measurement of optical density in a fixed wavelength range and determination of the concentration of total protein in urine from the measured optical density. The type of measurement is based on the final point of optical density of the product of interaction of chemical reagent with urine proteins, obtained by mixing the reagent and urine sample. The principle of measurement is photometric and turbidimetric with calibration by factor or standard.
Measurements are carried out in standard rectangular glass (plastic) cuvettes with optical path length of 10 mm, according to the procedure described in the instructions for the instrument.
