The bottom scraper is designed for raking sludge from the bottom of the horizontal lagoon into the collection pit. The scraper consists of a drive unit and a number of wedge-shaped profiles welded together to form a single unit so that they function as a moving floor in the tank.
The principle of operation is based on the reciprocating motion of the wedge-shaped profiles on the bottom of the tank. During the forward movement, the sludge is transported to the sludge collector and during the reverse movement, the profiles move under the sludge layer.
The backward movement is about twice as fast as the forward movement, which ensures continuous movement of the sludge. The scraper can be driven by an electric or hydraulic drive.
