FC 1400 is a fetal monitoring device used to measure fetal heart rate (FHR), maternal uterine contractions (UA:uterine activity) and fetal movements (FM). The FC 1400 delivers ultrasound pulses into the abdomen of the woman in labour.
From the signals returned after reflection from the fetal heart, the FC 1400 extracts Doppler frequencies that vary with fetal movement to infer changes in fetal heartbeats and subsequently analyses the signals, thus detecting heart rate and fetal movement. It also detects the degree of compression of the labouring woman's uterus using a pressure sensor.
The device displays the fetal heart rate, contractile activity of the mother's uterus, and fetal movements on the LCD screen as digital values and stores this information in its memory
