The hydrocarbon-based drilling fluid electrical stability tester TRL20 EST is a portable measuring device equipped with a universal power supply and autonomous power supply of the device, which is provided by
two built-in lithium-ion batteries of 18650 format with a capacity of 1800 mAh. The tester is designed for on-line assessment of the electrical stability of hydrocarbon-based drilling and emulsion fluids by the value of the electrical breakdown voltage, when the current between the current and the emulsion is reached.
breakdown voltage, when the current between the stylus electrodes reaches the value of 61±5 ?A. An alternating sinusoidal voltage of frequency 340±10 Hz with linearly increasing amplitude is applied to the stylus electrodes. When the current between the electrodes reaches a threshold value of 61±5 µA, the voltage increase automatically stops and the amplitude of the breakdown voltage is recorded.
The device is fully compliant with Section 8 of API 13B-2.
