Stands brake STM are designed to measure:
- braking force developed by braking systems of motor vehicles;
- mass per axle of motor vehicles;
- forces applied to the braking system controls
of motor vehicles;
- the push-in force of the coupling device;
- compressed air pressure in the pneumatic drive.
The bench refers to the power-type roller stands.
The principle of the stand operation consists in forced rotation of the wheels of the diagnosed axis of the car by the support rollers of the stand and measurement of forces arising on the surface of the support rollers during braking. The reactive moments arising during braking are transmitted to strain gauges, which produce electrical signals proportional to the braking forces on each pair of rollers. After processing, the electrical signals are transmitted to a personal computer and displayed on a monitor screen or printing device.
