The submersible centrifugal pump (ESP) is a hydraulic machine for pressure movement of liquid as a result of external energy transfer to it. The transfer of energy to the liquid flow from the shaft of a centrifugal pump, rotated by a drive motor, is carried out by an impeller with vanes.
The liquid, entering the intervane channels of the impeller rotating around the axis under the influence of centrifugal forces, moves to the periphery of the wheel and is ejected into the guide device (diffuser). The guide apparatus serves to direct the flow of liquid into the receiving part of the impeller, discharge and supply to the next stage of the pump.
