The diaphragm is designed to divide into compartments of the internal cylinder cavity of a steam turbine cylinder with different parameters of the working body. In the nozzles of diaphragms due to the change of channel cross-sections there is a transformation of potential energy of the working body into kinetic energy of the jet. The structural form of the diaphragm is welded steel.
Welded diaphragm consists of an outer annular part - rim, inner part - body and the main part - lattice of guide vanes connected with them by welding. The lattice is a ring-shaped outer and inner band with guide vanes placed between them. Nozzle channels are formed by the surfaces of the working part of the turbine guide vanes and the areas of the bandage belt surfaces located between the adjacent vanes.
Peripheral seal parts are placed in the diaphragm canopy. The diaphragm is centred by the alignment elements.
