The excitation system is a complex of electrical engineering products, providing at their joint operation control of turbine generator excitation in normal and emergency modes. The excitation system provides the generator of a steam turbine plant with automatically regulated constant excitation current. Excitation of the turbine generator is carried out by a static thyristor system. The excitation system is designed with two autonomous and equivalent converter-regulating channels. Each channel contains thyristor converter, digital automatic excitation regulator with pulse-phase control system. Any of the channels is able to independently provide all operating modes of the turbine generator, including the excitation boost mode. The thyristor converter is powered through a transformer connected to the stator busbar with voltage 10.5 kV.
