The ship's deadwood device is a device, which is one of the components of the ship's shafting system (a complex of ship devices, mechanisms and connections designed to transmit: torque (from the engine to the propulsion system) and thrust pressure from the propulsion system to the ship's hull. The deadwood device serves as a support for the propeller/intermediate shaft, provides watertightness at the exit from the ship, as well as lubrication, cooling and protection of the propeller shaft, preventing the entry of outside water along it into the ship's hull.
