These machines are used for separating and washing sandy material from wastewater. The machines consist of a conical decantation hopper equipped with an agitation system that gives the water with sandy waste a rotational motion; this rotation facilitates the sedimentation process and at the same time keeps organic matter in suspension.
Clean water is fed to the bottom of the hopper, which creates a countercurrent that removes the organic matter, which is then removed from a pipe located at the top of the hopper. The washed sand is removed from the bottom of the hopper by a screw conveyor with a shaft, and the cleaned water exits from a pipe located at the top of the hopper.
The water enters the hopper through an inlet pipe; the volume is kept in motion by a central agitator performing a rotary motion, the purpose of which is to facilitate the settling of sand and at the same time keep the organic material in suspension. The sand is washed with clean water on its way to the bottom.
