The sling with a shock absorber is a component of a safety system for work at height. It is a connecting and shock absorbing subsystem (SAP). It is designed to dissipate kinetic energy developed during a fall from height. It is used in firefighting operations.
The sling consists of a cord with a carabiner and a ring. The ends of the sling are sewn together in such a way that they form connecting loops, and the loops are fitted with plastic shackles.
The shock absorber is made of tape and is protected by a special heat-shrinkable polyethylene cover. Additionally, the shock absorber is protected by a special cover made of aramid fabric.
One of the shock-absorber loops is attached to the sling, the second one is equipped with a carabiner.
