Description
The radio beacon is ground equipment of azimuthal navigation system of aircrafts of metre wave range with VOR signal format and is recommended by ICAO as the main means of short-range navigation on air routes or as an additional means of approach and landing of civil aviation aircrafts.
It is intended for formation of navigation signals in space, containing information about azimuth of any point of the area of operation relative to the point of installation of the beacon, and beacon identification signals.
VOR 734 can be combined with a range beacon of DME type.
In this case, if the aircraft is equipped with the appropriate range-finding equipment, one combined VOR/DME beacon is sufficient to determine the aircraft position in the polar coordinate system "azimuth - range".
VOR 734 provides parameters that meet ICAO requirements depending on the specific conditions of the terrain where the beacon is located.
