A non-sterile rod made of metal or other material for insertion into the intramedullary canal of the tibia, designed to immobilise the ends of a broken bone in the position required for fusion. The rod may also be used to support the bone in pathological conditions or in knee arthrodesis.
The product may be lockable or non-lockable, and may also contain components for proximal or distal fixation. It is a single-use product, to be sterilised before use
