Designed for quantitative determination of total haemoglobin in blood by hemiglobin cyanide method on spectrophotometers (SF), photoelectrocalorimeters (PEC) and haemoglobinometers. The principle of the method is based on the formation of a persistent compound from blood haemoglobin - hemiglobin cyanide, the colour intensity of which is proportional to the amount of haemoglobin.
The reaction takes place in two stages: oxidation of all forms of blood haemoglobin into methemoglobin under the action of potassium ferricyanide; transition of methemoglobin into hemiglobin cyanide under the action of cyanide ions. The hemiglobincyanide method is recommended by the International Committee for Standardisation in Haematology.
The method allows the determination of all haemoglobin derivatives except sulfhaemoglobin. Kit contents: Transforming reagent (1.25 g/fl.) - 5 vials, hemiglobin cyanide calibration solution (5 ml/amp.) - 1 ampoule.
