The front drive axle is designed to connect the front wheels of one axle to each other, their rotation, as well as the transmission of torque from the engine through the cardan shaft to the front drive wheels, and by means of the differential allows the wheels of the car to rotate at different angular speeds. The axle consists of a pressed front axle casing, in which a gearbox with cam differential is installed.
On the trunnions of the crankcase are mounted steering knuckles with equal-angle joints and hubs with drum brakes. Rotation from the gearbox to the wheel-hub group is transmitted through half axles.
On the front drive axle is fixed steering trapezium, consisting of a transverse steering rod and two levers, articulated with each other.
