The main function of the Device is automatic surfacing: when the seismic streamer, to which the Device is attached, is submerged to the threshold depth of automatic operation, the inflatable buoy of the automatic surfacing mechanism is filled with CO2 gas and the Device together with the seismic streamer attached to it floats to the water surface, which prevents the loss of expensive hydrographic equipment.
