Acti-Fine vacuum tubes for serum production contain microparticles of silica (Silica SiO2), applied to the inner walls of the tube and activate the process of blood clotting. A separation barrier in the form of a gel at the bottom of the tube is used to separate the formed serum from the clot.
The use of separating gel tubes is useful to provide a stable barrier between the clot and serum during transport and storage of the sample. The Acti-Fine serum collection tube is used for immunoassays, biochemical studies and drug monitoring.
