Magistral freight two-section diesel locomotive 2TE25KM with power of 2x2650 kW (2x3604 hp) with AC-DC electric transmission with axial traction force regulation is designed for driving goods trains on the railways of JSC "Russian Railways" in areas with moderate climate at ambient air temperature from 223 to 313 K (from minus 50°C to plus 40°C).
Operational tests of the 2TE25KM diesel locomotive have shown that its traction characteristics allow it to carry trains weighing 6400 tonnes, which is significantly higher than the weight standard of the 2TE10M diesel locomotive, the main diesel locomotive of JSCo "Russian Railways", which is 5200 tonnes. The transition to the mass application of 2TE25KM diesel locomotives will make it possible to increase the average weight of trains of the diesel locomotive range of the Russian Railways network, improve the efficiency of infrastructure operation and reduce the time of cargo delivery.
