Gamma unit on the basis of cobalt-60 is designed for sterilisation of medical devices for various purposes, radiation modification of materials, processing of food products and agricultural crops by cold sterilisation (elimination of pathogenic microflora, extension of shelf life, phytosanitary treatment, etc.).
Gamma unit consists of the following units: Source of radiation - cobalt-60; Irradiator; Transport system for moving products to the irradiation chamber; Automated process control system, including a system of interlocks and security; Video surveillance system; Dosimetric control system; Two-way communication system.
- Gamma radiation source - closed with radionuclide cobalt-60, type GIK-A6.
- Nominal activity of gamma irradiator, kCi - 1000.
- Irradiation object - products placed in aluminium boxes (supplied together with the unit).
