Vacuum electrothermal unit KB 154 of two-cup type is designed for various thermal processes in vacuum and neutral gases at temperatures up to 1500C. The unit consists of the following main parts: frame-hull with protective covers and doors; two cooled heating chambers (hoods) with heaters and heat shields; hood lifting mechanisms; vacuum system; water cooling system; control panel; furnace transformer; thyristor voltage regulator; emergency signalling system. The furnace heating chambers are designed as a vertical water-cooled cylinder with a water-cooled cover on the upper end.
On the cap are located the leads of current conduits and the lug of suspension to the mechanism of lifting the cap. Cases and covers are made of stainless steel 12?18?10? with two walls for cooling by flowing water.
For observation of soldering processes is used peephole, installed on both hoods of the furnace.
