The units are designed for condensation of steam from turbine seals and represent a vertical shell-and-tube heat exchanger. The cooling surface is formed by straight brass tubes of 16 mm diameter, 1 mm wall thickness, welded from both ends in the tube boards, and is 100 m2 .
The upper and lower water chambers are flanged to the tube planks. The case has a temperature compensator.Due to the large difference in the flow rate of cooling water, the inlet and turning chambers of the gland heater are made so that when cooling it with low temperature water (36C-technical water) it can operate as an eight-way, and when cooling with water of higher temperature (desalinated water and condensate)-as a four-way, which is provided by the appropriate schemes of pipelines.
In all cases, the steam pressure in the gland heaters must be maintained at about 0.09 MPa (0.9 kgf/cm2).
