The instrument is a specialised photometer for studies of total blood haemoglobin with calibration by factor or standard sample (calibrator) at a wavelength of 540 nm, by measuring the optical density of transparent solutions, with automatic recalculation of the measured density by conversion factor (factor) to concentration in the determination of total blood haemoglobin by biochemical methods, including hemiglobin cyanide and hemichrome. The type of measurement is based on the end point of optical density of the product of interaction between the chemical reagent and haemoglobin derivatives obtained by mixing the reagent and the blood sample. Measurements can be performed in standard glass or plastic cuvettes with an optical path length of 10 mm, according to the procedure described in the reagent instructions
