The analysers are designed for measuring the content of total sulphur and nitrogen in oil, petroleum products, chemical synthesis products, biological materials, gases and liquefied gases.
The principle of operation of the analysers is based on high-temperature decomposition and oxidation of sample components in a quartz pyrolysis tube (furnace), in an atmosphere enriched with oxygen, and subsequent analysis of the resulting products. At high temperature and excess oxygen, sulphur compounds are quantitatively transformed into sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen compounds - into nitric oxide (NO). Hydrocarbons are quantitatively converted into water and carbon dioxide (H2O and CO2). The combustion products are transported by the carrier gas flow through the gas line to the measuring unit. A dryer and a particle filter are present in the gas line to remove water and soot from the combustion products, which interfere with the analysis. Sulphur detection is carried out by UV fluorescence. Nitrogen is detected by chemiluminescence.
